How to Call Spain from the U.S.

Making an international call is easy.

To call Spain, you can use either your Ooma Telo-connected home phone or the Ooma Mobile app.

  • First, dial 011 to exit the U.S. telephone system.
  • Now dial Spain’s country code, which is 34.
  • Next, dial the local number, which is 9 digits.

You will be able to tell from the number whether or not the person you’re calling has a mobile phone. Nine-digit mobile numbers in Spain start with either a 6 or a 7. Keep in mind mobile per-minute rates apply to these phone calls with Ooma.

In most cases, you should also be able to call the number as it is listed, as Spain itself has no special national dialing format (like the “1” we dial sometimes here in the U.S. to place long distance calls). Be sure to confirm that it follows the format suggested above in the instructions, however.

Calls made through the Ooma Mobile app do not use any minutes or incur international charges on your wireless bill. Instead, these calls are routed over your data connection and may count against your data allotment if you’re not on an unlimited plan with your carrier. If possible, connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot to place calls in order to minimize data usage.

Calling another Ooma customer in any country is free of charge no matter how long you talk. If you encounter any issues or have any further questions, feel free to get in contact with us via our Customer Support website at https://support.ooma.com.

With both the Ooma World Plan and Ooma World Plus Plan, all landline calls to Spain are unlimited. With the Ooma World Plan, any calls to mobile numbers in Spain are billed at Ooma’s standard mobile rate for the country, which is $0.37 per minute. Those charges are added to your monthly bill after the billing of the monthly service charge. If you’d like unlimited mobile calling as well, choose Ooma World Plus.

In total, the Ooma World Plan gives you unlimited calling to landline numbers in 60 countries and mobile numbers in 10 countries for $17.99 per month. The Ooma World Plus Plan adds an additional 10 countries for landlines (70 in all) and 30 more countries for mobile numbers (40 in all) for $25.99 per month.

International Calling to Spain

It can often be expensive and difficult to call overseas, but with Ooma Telo, it’s affordable and easy.

With Ooma’s Basic Service or Premier Service, calls to landline numbers in Spain are billed at a rate of $0.022 per minute, meaning a 10-minute phone call would cost you $0.22. For mobile phone numbers, the per-minute rate is $0.37. Basic Service is prepaid, so charges are deducted from your prepaid balance, while with Premier Service the per-minute charges are added to your bill in addition to the $9.99 monthly fee.

While Basic Service has no monthly fee for crystal-clear nationwide calling, Premier Service offers a whole host of additional features for a low monthly charge. For example, Premier Service customers get powerful call-blocking tools to protect them against telemarketers and robocalls, as well as an Instant Second LineTM for making and receiving calls when your primary line is in use, the Ooma Mobile app for making calls from your mobile phone anywhere you are, voicemail access through email and text notifications, free unlimited calling to Canada and Mexico, plus many others that Basic Service doesn’t provide.

Ooma’s rates are a significant savings over its competitors. Verizon charges you as much as $1.69 per minute depending on your plan, which is more than four times that of Ooma’s most expensive rates.

Ooma-to-Ooma calls are 100% free regardless of the amount of time you talk, so if your contact in Spain is also an Ooma customer, you can talk as long as you want and it won’t cost a penny. You’ll also have calls in crystal-clear HD voice, which is much better quality than standard telephone lines can provide.
