Ooma increases VoIP faxing reliability for small business

Ooma Office boosts versatility with Ooma SureFax, updated user portal and support for toll-free numbers

Ooma®, Inc., the leader in smart home and business communication systems, is expanding its award-winning Ooma Office™ to empower small business owners with the ultimate versatility in their phone system. The business phone system now includes SureFax™ to significantly improve VoIP faxing success, a user version of the Ooma Office Manager online portal for greater individual customization, and the addition of toll-free numbers. The new features are available today and come as a standard part of all existing Ooma Office subscriptions.

In taking Ooma Office to the next level, the company tackles one of businesses’ greatest challenges with VoIP phone systems: faxing. Historically, analog faxing has been a painful experience over VoIP – the added layers of complexity coupled with the need for consistent high-speed Internet leads to a high failure rate. For small business owners looking to leverage the productivity and cost-savings of VoIP, the unreliability of faxing is a huge hurdle. Ooma has made significant strides in improving faxing success rates with its new SureFax feature and Ooma Office is now optimized to more reliably send and receive faxes over virtually any high-speed Internet connection. SureFax has been automatically rolled out to all users as a software upgrade to the Ooma Office Base Station device and is another example of the power and flexibility of the Ooma Office solution.

“We’ve learned a tremendous amount about the phone service needs of small businesses since launching Ooma Office over a year ago, and we’ve applied that knowledge to create a more powerful, customizable and flexible service,” said Dennis Peng, vice president of product management at Ooma. “These new features represent a big leap forward for Ooma Office, making it the most robust and affordable phone system for any small business environment.”

Ooma has also reduced the administrative burden on business owners. The current Ooma Office Manager gives administrators total control over their business phone systems, from setting up extensions to configuring virtual receptionists. Now Ooma brings a similar ability to create a custom phone experience to each small business staff member with a user version of Ooma Office Manager. This web-based portal gives each user their own view into the Office system and lets them listen to voicemail, view call logs, set call forwarding and update other preferences. It also enables click-to-call so users can make and return calls with one-click on a phone number inside the portal.

Ooma Office now enables businesses to add or port a toll-free number to their account for the same $9.99 per number monthly fee as local numbers. Toll-free numbers come with 500 minutes of free calling per month. Businesses that anticipate greater toll-free traffic can purchase additional plans, by signing in to their Ooma Office Manager account at https://office.ooma.com/.

All of these enhanced features are now available to Ooma Office customers. To learn more about how Ooma Office can streamline small businesses phone systems, please visit http://ooma.com/products/business.
